There will not be any pre-assigned homework this year.
(This does not include studying for tests)
Any work that your child does not finish during the school day will be sent home to be completed that evening, and is to be turned in, completed, the following school day.
This concept is to help motivate the students to stay on task during the day, and also to help keep the parents aware of how their child is performing in the classroom.
Assessments of students will not be strictly limited to tests only. There will be a variety of informal assessments, such as monitoring a student's classwork, that will help to form the basis of their grades.
That being said...I cannot stress enough how important it is for you and your child to read together each day. Being read to, is EQUALLY as important as reading to your child.
Extra work, study skills, practice pages, etc. can be given at the teacher's discretion, should the need present itself.
